William Shakespeare was an English poet and playwright who is acknowledged to have been born on April 23, 1564. William was the third child of John Shakespeare and Mary Arden. He had two older sisters, Joan and Judith. Along with three younger brothers, Gilbert, Richard, and Edmund.
William married Anne Hathaway on November 28, 1582. At the time, William was 18 and Anne was 26, and pregnant. There first child was a daughter, which they named Susanna, born on May 26, 1583. Two years later, on February 2, 1585, William and Anne welcomed twins Hamnet and Judith.
After the birth of the twins, there are seven years of William Shakespeare's life where no records exist. Professionals call this period of time the "lost years", and there is wide speculation on what he was doing during this time.
Professionals know very little about Shakepeare's childhood, and even less about his education. Through much research, though, scholars suspect that he attended the King's New School in Stratford-upon-Avon. This school taught reading, writing, and the classics. But the uncertainty of his education has started to raise questions on whether or not Shakspeare actually existed.
